COLDPLAY SIGN UP FOR WEMBLEY RETURN IN SUMMER 2025
2025 is shaping up to be another memorable year for Wembley Stadium after Coldplay announced they will be returning to the venue next summer.
The rock outfit have confirmed details of a six-night residency at Wembley in August next year. They are the third big-name act to confirm multi-night performances at the stadium in 2025, alongside Oasis and Dua Lipa.
The stellar line up of events already confirmed for 2025 comes on the back of another record-breaking summer for Wembley Stadium.
More than 1.5 million people visited the venue between June-August this year, as the stadium hosted19 events, including some of the world’s biggest sports and music events of 2024.
On June 1 Wembley was home to this year’s UEFA Champions League Final. It was the eighth time the venue hosted the final of Europe’s most prestigious club football contest– more than any other stadium in the competition’s history.
Wembley’s summer concert season then opened with Capital’s Summertime Ball, followed by American superstar Taylor Swift performing the first show of her record-breaking eight-night run at the stadium. Swift became the first solo artist to play the iconic stadium eight times on a single tour, and her shows were watched by more than 700,000 throughout. The eight-night run at Wembley Stadium was the most at any venue across the entire tour.
Other big-name acts who took to the stage under the arch this summer include Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band who performed two sell-out shows at the end of July. Rock legends AC/DC also did two nights, while American punk act Green Day marked the 20th anniversary of their seminal American Idiot album with a one-off show.
Rugby League’s Challenge Cup Final, England v Iceland, The FA Community Shield and AEW Wrestling’s All-In event completed the line-up of eclectic events at the stadium.
The calendar of high-profile events throughout the summer meant hospitality sales were up across the season – an increase of 23% compared to the previous year, with a waiting list now in operation for private boxes.
The Wembley Stadium tour, which provides guests with a unique behind the scenes look of the venue, also saw a record number of bookings this year. More than 22,000 people enjoyed a tour of the stadium, despite tours only being open for just 23 days through the summer period.
