A Non-League football double header will be piloted at Wembley Stadium connected by EE next season with both the FA Trophy and the FA Vase finals to be played on Sunday 22 May 2016 across staggered kick-off times.

It will be the first time ever that Wembley Stadium has hosted two FA national competition finals on the same day.

Over 500 clubs entered the FA Vase this season while 276 took part in the FA Trophy.

North Ferriby United beat Wrexham 5-4 on penalties back in March to win the FA Trophy for the first time in their history while over 10,000 fans are expected at Wembley Stadium on Saturday to see Glossop North End and North Shields battle it out for the FA Vase silverware.

The FA’s Director of National Game, Kelly Simmons MBE, said: “We’re lucky to have a fantastic non-league football culture in this country and having both the FA Trophy and Vase finals on the same day will not only celebrate two great competitions but provide real value for money for fans and neutral supporters who want to be a part of an historical first for Wembley Stadium.

“Both competitions are over 40 years old and we’ve always been committed to hosting the finals at Wembley Stadium.

“BT Sport has backed up that commitment by broadcasting this season’s FA Trophy final live and will show highlights of Saturday’s Vase final.

“There’s no doubt that next season’s Trophy and Vase campaigns will be the biggest ever with a place in the double header at stake.”

The Football Association will announce more details around the FA Trophy and Vase finals double header next season.
