Wembley to host FA Women's Cup Final
The FA Women’s Cup Final will be staged at Wembley Stadium connected by EE for the first time in its history.
Tickets for the Final, which will take place on Saturday 1 August 2015 (3pm KO), will go on sale on Tuesday 10 March at 10am.
Early bird tickets, available until 5 May 2015, are priced £10 for adults and £3 for children. An early bird family ticket (two adults and two children) is £25 and group booking discounts apply.
The match will also be shown live on BBC One. The fixture was announced live on BBC One by Gary Lineker following the men’s FA Cup Semi-Final draw on Monday.
Last year’s Final was won by Arsenal who beat Everton 2-0 in front of a 15,000 crowd at stadiummk, after goals from Kelly Smith and Yukari Kinga.
The decision follows the success of England Women v Germany at Wembley Stadium in November last year, which attracted a record crowd of more than 45,000 supporters.
Kelly Simmons, FA director of national game and women’s football, said: “The FA and the FA Women’s Board has worked hard on bringing the FA Women’s Cup Final to Wembley for some time now and it’s fantastic that we’ve been able to do so for 2015.
“The England v Germany game was such a big moment for women’s football and we wanted to use that, along with this summer’s World Cup, to build momentum across the wider women’s game and so it felt like the perfect time to for the Final to be at Wembley.
“It’s great to be working with the BBC again on the live broadcast to bring the Final to a wider audience and show just how strong women’s football is in this country.”
Four-time FA Cup winner Kelly Smith said: “As a player you dream of playing in an FA Cup Final at Wembley and now we have the chance to do that, which is amazing.
“It will be even more of an incentive for clubs and players to progress in the competition and reach the Final. Hopefully it will be another fantastic showcase for women’s football and help to grow the game even more.”
FA Chairman Greg Dyke said: “The Football Association is committed to the growth of women’s football and holding the FA Women’s Cup Final at Wembley is another important milestone in the development of the game.
“The Final will be a truly historic occasion this year and we’re looking forward to a great game of football.”
BBC football lead executive Mark Cole said: "We're really looking forward to bringing an exciting summer of live women's football to fans across the BBC, from the World Cup in Canada to the FA Cup Final at Wembley.
"The women's game is certainly on the rise and we are delighted to extend our commitment to the sport by showcasing the big games to growing audiences on the BBC."
