Carl Froch believes Saturday night’s bout with George Groves at Wembley will be the biggest of the WBA and IBF Super Middleweight champion’s illustrious career.

And The Cobra believes the size of the occasion will bring the best out of him.

“This is by far the biggest fight of my unbelievable career,” said Froch.

“It’s given me the motivation and it’s given me that apprehension that I need to perform at my best.

“I still can’t believe I’ll be walking out in front of 80,000 boxing fans and non-boxing fans in our national stadium. It’s one of the best stadiums in the world.

“I have prepared for this fight like no other fight before.”

Froch is expecting that hard work to pay dividends come Saturday night.

The champion openly admitted that his preparations had not been as good as they could have been for the previous fight with Groves, in November, but says that’s not the case this time around.

“I’m in unbelievable shape and I’m just looking forward to doing the job on Saturday,” said Froch.

“Hardcore boxing fans know what I’m all about. When I turn up in the shape I’m in now I’ve shown time and time again I can perform at the top level and I can beat some of the best boxers in the world.”

Froch turns 37 in just over a month’s time and faces a man more than 10 years his junior in Groves.

However the Nottingham fighter was quick to quash any thoughts that the miles he has on the clock will be any kind of a hindrance this weekend.

“I’ve still got what it takes. I’m performing, the output is there. I know it’s a cliché, but age is just a number,” Froch stated in determined fashion.

“I’m here to perform for the full duration of this fight if necessary but I’m convinced this fight won’t go the distance, George Groves won’t hear the final bell.

“I know what I need to do and I know how to do it.”
