Spectacular Summertime Ball wows fans
Capital FM promised us their biggest ever Summertime Ball and they certainly delivered an incredible day’s music at Wembley Stadium connected by EE.
Calvin Harris set the standard as he kicked off the festival with an amazing set which had everyone in the stadium bouncing.
From there it was like a parade of music’s top names as the crowd were treated to the likes of Ellie Goulding, Enrique, Little Mix, Jessie J, Cheryl Cole and Pharrell.
5 Seconds of Summer returned to the stage where they’d performed just two weeks before and an especially warm welcome was reserved for the Australian band who are clearly enjoying a love affair with Wembley Stadium.
As the evening wore on the show got more and more spectacular and we are not just referring to Pharrell’s wardrobe.
Miley Cyrus unleashed giant inflatable rubber ducks on the crowd before David Guetta closed the day with a set so full of bass it shook Wembley to its core.
And, as Guetta finished off the show by playing ‘Without You’, the roar of the crowd made it clear how much they’d enjoyed the show.
They weren’t the only ones, the acts too seem pretty overwhelmed by the occasion.
Guetta told the crowd, “'I remember watching concerts at Wembley and thinking 'one day maybe' so this is a very special night for me”.
Cyrus admitted openly she didn’t want to leave the Wembley stage saying, “I don't know when I'm going to play Wembley again so I'm milking it, I want to stay on the stage as long as I can!”
Others just simply marvelled at the sheer size of the venue.
Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards said, “When you look out there and see how massive and spectacular it is you just think ‘oh my gosh, we are going to look like little ants.”
So did Capital deliver on their promise of the biggest and best ball yet? You bet they did!
