An elated Carl Froch admitted after his Wembley win over George Groves that victory under the arch was the pinnacle of his career and will never be topped.
The Cobra defeated the challenger with a thunderous right hand in the 8th round of an epic fight which sent the Wembley crowd into raptures.
And speaking after Carl admitted it doesn’t get much better than this in boxing.
“This is the best moment of my boxing career,” he said.
“I’ve been involved in some magnificent fights with some top world champions but this is by far the biggest and best crowd I’ve ever boxed in front of and this is the biggest event I’ve ever been a part of so I’m very proud.”
“I’ll never top boxing at Wembley Stadium, my national stadium.”
An incredible punch sealed the victory for Froch with the two fighters neck and neck for much of the bout.
And the champion admitted, sometimes, one good punch is all you need.
“That was the best punch I've ever thrown in my life,” said Froch.
“Let’s be honest it was neck and neck in there, there was nothing in it.”
“It was a close fight but sometimes in professional boxing it only takes one punch and when you’ve got the punch that I’ve got that one punch can be all you need.”
“Unfortunately for George tonight he was on the end of a very heavy right hand from a true seasoned champion.”
Froch described this as ‘the end of the George Groves saga’ after the fight but confessed that if the bout had gone the other way it could have been the end of Carl Froch.
“I would have retired if I’d lost tonight. I came here to win” said the IBF and WBA World Super Middleweight Champion.
