The Killers pay Wembley the ultimate tribute
Indie Rockers perform a song written especially for Wembley Stadium
The Killers gave Wembley Stadium the ultimate 90th birthday present when they performed a song written especially for the stadium.
The indie Rockers' concert on Saturday was the latest in a series of amazing events during the Wembley's landmark anniversary.
Having already witnessed the world’s most successful football nation defeated by the Three Lions in February, as well as the second Champions League Final in three seasons, Wembley is now in the middle of a stellar music calendar.
Capital Summertime Ball kicked it off at the start of June before Bruce Springsteen brought his Wrecking Ball Tour to the stadium and blew the crowd away.
Not to be outdone, however, The Killers stunned Saturday night’s crowd with a thrilling two-hour set, which mixed some of their classics with some new material.
And it was one of their new tracks that brought a special cheer from the crowd and registered a very proud moment for Wembley: its own dedicated track.

Brandon Flowers, lead singer for The Killers said “We’ve written a song for this joyous occasion.” And proceeded to sing about some of Wembley’s great moments, it’s history from the Twin Towers to present day arch.
A special mention to the Three Lions and even a nod to Freddie Mercury with a call-answer “day-oh”, before reeling off some of the great acts that have played Wembley, highlighting the magical musical history that the stadium possesses and with the addition of The Killers that list will go on.
One thing abounds about the greatness of Wembley, sports people want to play here, recording artists want to sing here and when they get the chance they are blown away by its brilliance.
As The Killers disappeared off stage to carry on the musical party at a specially arranged intimate gig in North London, the stadium turned its attentions to the next one: four nights of Robbie Williams starting from next Saturday night.
The stadium doesn’t stop, whether it be sporting or musical moments but occasions that happen like last night span through history and inspire the memories that Wembley Stadium is all about.
Thank you to The Killers for our song, we will cherish it forever.
