Michael Laudrup Pays Tribute To Wembley
Michael Laudrup paid tribute to Wembley Stadium after leading Swansea City to a 5-0 victory over Bradford City in the League Cup Final.
The win makes it a personal hat-trick of victories for him at the home of football and is Swansea’s first major honour in their 101 year history.
Laudrup famously helped Barcelona to lift the European Cup at the old Wembley in 1992 and also starred for Denmark in a 1-0 victory over England in a European Championship qualifier in 1983.
And now he has added the League Cup to his list of Wembley triumphs after Nathan Dyer (2), Jonathan De Guzman (2) and Michu all scored for Swansea in a convincing victory underneath the Arch.
He said: "This is a fantastic stadium, one of the special stadiums in world football.
“It's the first time I've been to the new one, although I've some very good memories from 1983 and 1992.
“This was my third time here in a major game and my third win. So I like this place! Could we play some more games here please?"
Laudrup, who won league titles in Italy, Spain and Holland as well as the Intercontinental Cup and the European Cup, says winning a title with Swansea matched up to all of them.
He added: "I don't think I can compare this with something I've done before, for the simple reason that it's one thing to win a cup or trophy with Barcelona, Real Madrid or Juventus.
“But to win it with a smaller team like Swansea is absolutely fantastic.
"It's their first major trophy ever; it's up there with the best things I've done because it's completely different.
“To lift the trophy is great but the way we did, 5-0, was special."
