England will host Sweden at Wembley on Tuesday 15 November.

On Tuesday evening Sweden secured their place at UEFA Euro 2012 with a 3-2 victory over World Cup finalists Holland, earning the one remaining automatic spot at the tournament for the best group stage runner-up.

The match will be the 22nd meeting between the two teams, and in the previous encounters the record is all-square with six victories each and nine draws. The last time the two sides faced each other was a 2-2 draw in Cologne, Joe Cole and Steven Gerrard scoring for England in their third group game at the World Cup in 2006.

It will be Sweden's first visit to the new Wembley Stadium, and their first trip to London since the goalless draw at Wembley in 1999. The last time England beat Sweden at Wembley was in 1968, with goals from Sir Bobby Charlton, Martin Peters and Roger Hunt.

The match with Sweden falls three days after the visit to Wembley of the World and European Champions Spain.

The FA revealed this week that England had by the far the biggest average attendance of all competing nations in qualification for Euro 2012. The Organisation are hoping this run continues for the first two friendlies after securing qualification for the tournament next summer. In four qualifiers at Wembley, the average crowd was 77,071. The next closest were France with 64,339.

Club England Managing Director Adrian Bevington said: "The level of support the England team receives all around the globe is tremendous, and it's important we acknowledge that as often as we can.

"They travel great distances, Sofia and Podgorica most recently, to support the team. With these exciting fixtures at Wembley it's a great chance for us to play in front of our home support."

Tickets will go on sale for the game on Friday 14 October to englandfans members, and on Monday 17 October to the general public. The match will be broadcast on ITV kicking off at 8pm.
