Spurs began their Round of 32 2nd leg Europa League tie against KAA Gent needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit. They got off to the perfect start when Christian Eriksen puts the hosts in the lead with a close range finish on 10 minutes.
But the Belgian team hit back soon after when a ball into the box clipped the head of Harry Kane and nestled in to the corner past Hugo Lloris.
Things got worse for Spurs as Dele Alli received his marching orders for a high tackle leaving an uphill battle for the home side in the 2nd half.
But Victor Wanyama stepped up to score a thunderbolt half way through the 2nd half to give Spurs a lifeline.
But it was to no avail as Gent scored a 2nd goal towards the end of the half to secure their passage into the next round of the competition and end Spurs’ European hopes for another season.
