A sold out crowd, Wembley shaking with noise, screaming fans and a spectacular performance…and that was just the support act 5 Seconds of Summer!
The One Direction fans packed out Wembley Stadium for three nights in a row anticipating a show to remember from their heroes.
And Harry, Liam, Niall, Zayn and Louis didn’t disappoint as they delivered hit after hit for their adoring crowd and put on a spectacle that will live long in the memory.
Fireworks cracked from the main stage, streamers coated the crowd and the boys even stood atop a colourfully lit raised platform resembling a Rubik’s cube as their audience screamed in adoration.
The boys had plenty of celebrity support as well with Olly Murs, Gaizka Mendieta and Simon Cowell among the attendees.
From the moment Australian support act 5 Seconds of Summer took to the stage Wembley was rocking and it even bounced throughout the intervals with the entire stadium performing the Macarena or dancing to House of Pain’s ‘Jump Around’.
But when One Direction took to the stage the atmosphere hit new levels!
The chart toppers were met with a deafening reception to the point where Liam Payne’s nightly greeting to the huge crowd was barely audible.
One Direction have played to some huge crowds during the ‘Where We Are Tour’ but even they seemed to be caught up in the magnitude of the occasion.
Louis said playing Wembley was ‘unbelievable’ while Liam told the crowd that the band’s three consecutive nights at the national stadium were ‘the greatest of our lives’.
In a set which lasted around an hour and a half the band ensured everyone went home happy playing every last one of their hits.
However they saved the biggest for last finishing with ‘What Makes You Beautiful before the mandatory encore saw them close with ‘Best Song Ever’.
At the end of the final night the crowd were in raptures and the emotion of the occasion clearly got to the boys as well as they joined together at the end of the stage for a group hug.
Later that night Harry Styles took to Twitter to have the final word and sum up the band’s feelings.
“Thank you so much Wembley,” wrote the Cheshire popstar, “You were on another level. Thank you for having us.”
Any time Harry, any time!
