For the first time in their 104 year history Hull City are in the Premiership afer beating Bristol City 1-0 inthe Championship play off final. The Tigers goal came from man of the match Dean Windass who scored a brilliant volley in the 38th minute.
As the game kicked off it was Bristol who threatened early with Dele Adebola and Lee Trundle. However, when the goal eventually came it was from a lovely cross by Hull City's Fraizer Campbell to team mate Windass, who buried the ball home.
Nine minutes of injury time were added in the first half after The Robins' right back Bradley Orr suffered a suspected depressed fracture of the cheekbone. Despite all of this Gary Johnson's side never stopped believing and continued to press and trouble Hull's defence. Lee Trundle had a great chance when Myhill fumbled a punch - but the striker's shot was blocked by Turner.
Hull City fans were euphoric when referee Alan Wiley finally blew the whistle after five minutes of injury time, their celebrations echoed around the Sadium! Windass raced onto the pitch and sunk to his knees, emotional as he realised his goal had guarenteed Premiership football will be at the KC Stadium next season. He said, after the game; "The defence were fanastic. We fully deserve it, we've worked hard all season and got our rewards."
