The FA Cup Final

Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool

Liverpool super-sub Andy Carroll insisted his team were unlucky to lose The FA Cup Final, after his dramatic late header was adjudged not to have crossed the line.

Carroll came off the bench to make it 2-1 and almost grabbed an equaliser in the dying stages which would have taken the match to extra time, only for Chelsea 'keeper Petr Cech to make a breathtaking save on the line.

"I thought it was over the line," said Carroll.

"I thought it hit the other side of the bar which means it was in really. But I haven't seen it back. I thought we were unlucky. We had a few chances and we could have put them away, but it's not to be.

"All I know is we tried hard. We came here to win. It's been a disappointing season in the league; but we got here and we were unlucky. I thought the ball was over the line and it could have been extra time - and who knows what happens after that."
