Brent schoolchildren take part in community pitch day at Wembley Stadium

Schoolchildren from across Brent enjoyed an unforgettable experience as they stepped onto the Wembley Stadium turf for the annual Community Pitch Day recently.

Boys and girls from eight schools participated in a series of football activities, joined by football freestyler and YouTube personality Billy Wingrove. The children also met England mascots Rory, Mane and Paws, before exploring the players’ changing rooms on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour.

Saira Mirza, CSR Manager at The FA, said: “Our Community Pitch Day allows us to welcome local schoolchildren into Wembley Stadium and let them experience what it’s like to play on such an iconic pitch.

“After an incredibly busy year of events, this is our chance to open up the doors of Wembley to those who may not have had the opportunity to visit before and give them a sense of what makes this place so special.”

The Community Pitch Day is one of many initiatives led by The FA and Wembley Stadium to support and engage the local community. Earlier this year, The FA launched a dementia café at Wembley Stadium in partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, offering a safe and supportive environment for local residents living with dementia.

Wembley Stadium also piloted its first Employability Programme in collaboration with The King’s Trust, to help young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) develop essential skills to support their journey into the workforce.
