Sustainability at Wembley Stadium
Wembley Stadium is playing an active role in delivering the FA’s sustainability strategy – ‘Playing for the Future.’ Launched in 2023, ‘Playing the Future’ outlines the FA’s plan to drive forward environmental ambitions and be a role model in shaping a positive football future for all.
Delivering Our Strategy
Sustainability is a strategic imperative for Wembley Stadium.
We are fully aware of the impact that large scale events can have on our planet. To attract the world’s biggest shows and host major sporting fixtures, we need to reduce our impact and make a positive contribution to the environment and our local community.
In alignment with the FA’s strategy, we are focussing on three key areas to relating to our environmental impact.
Shoot for Net Zero - focussed on energy and climate action.
Save our Resources – focussed on materials, waste and water.
Make an Impact – focussed on how we engage our stakeholders and wider ecosystem.
We have made pleasing progress across these areas and remain committed to continuous improvement. Explore our progress across each focus area below.
Shoot for zero
As a signatory to the UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action Framework, our goal is to achieve net zero emissions across all our operations by 2040.
Save our resources
We are committed to reducing the waste generated at the stadium and managing responsibly the waste we do generate.
Make an impact
The stadium has its own sustainability working group (FAST)
