Wembley Stadium shortlisted in two categories at The Stadium Business Awards 2024

Wembley Stadium connected by EE has been shortlisted for two prizes at this year’s The Stadium Business Awards 2024.

The stadium has been nominated for the Sustainability & Community Award and Venue of The Year.

Wembley Stadium hosted 30 major events throughout 2023 and welcomed more than 2.2 million guests into the stadium. It proved to be another ground-breaking year for the venue, which also celebrated its 100th anniversary.

In addition to hosting the UK’s finest sporting spectacles, Wembley was home to some of the nation’s biggest music concerts. Harry Styles performed four sold-out shows to more than 320,000 delighted fans, while Blur also reformed for two sold out gigs.

Despite the busy calendar of events, the venue continued to demonstrate its commitment to be one of the greenest stadia in the world.

Alongside record recycling rates, the grounds team created a process to ensure its hybrid pitches, which contain around 5% of plastic, are completely recyclable when they come to the end of their natural life-span.

Chris Bryant, Stadium Director at Wembley, added: "We are thrilled to be shortlisted for two categories at The Stadium Business Awards 2024.”

“This recognition is a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and delivering exceptional experiences for our guests.”

“We are proud to be nominated alongside other leaders in the industry.”

Winners will be announced on the evening of 18th June. Take a look at who’s in the running this year here.
