WEMBLEY STADIUM ANNOUNCED AS HOST OF 2023 UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL TO CELEBRATE ITS CENTENARY YEAR

UEFA has today announced that Wembley Stadium connected by EE will host the UEFA Champions League Final in 2023.

Wembley Stadium will celebrate its centenary year in 2023 and it has now been chosen to host the showpiece Final of the world’s biggest club football competition.

The iconic stadium has already been confirmed as venue hosts of upcoming major European finals including both the men’s and women’s UEFA European Championships in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Over the last 100 years, Wembley Stadium has been at the heart of the development of European football having hosted FA Cup Finals, World Cup Finals, historic European Cup nights and UEFA EURO Finals.

Wembley Stadium last hosted the UEFA Champions League Final in 2013 between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in front of a capacity crowd of 90,000. Since then The FA has made significant investment into Wembley Stadium to ensure it retains its status as a world class venue, including a new playing surface, floodlights, sound system, updated broadcast compound, as well as revitalised corporate facilities. The 85-acre Wembley Park has also been transformed with further developments set to deliver a new and modern fan experience.

Wembley Stadium has an illustrious history of hosting some of the biggest and most prestigious events and this will be the perfect occasion to help celebrate the stadium’s centenary year."

UEFA's commitment to bringing the Final to Wembley for a third time in 12 years, alongside the finals of the men's EURO 2020 and women's EURO 2021 tournaments, confirms London truly is the sporting capital of the world and open to everyone."
