Billy Joel brought his rock & roll magic back to the UK performing a one off show in front of a 60,000 strong audience at Wembley Stadium. The concert marked Joel’s first return to the UK since 2013, and it was the Artist’s first performance in his extraordinary career at Wembley Stadium.
Having sold 150 million records over the past quarter of a century, Billy Joel ranks as one of most popular recording artists and respected entertainers in history. The singer/songwriter/composer is the sixth best-selling recording artist of all time, the third best-selling solo artist and is one of the highest grossing touring artists in the world.
He doesn’t tour often, but today Wembley spectators were treated to a rare live show from the Piano Man. However, the performance he treated us to was one of a man who knows how to please his adoring fans.
Even the road closures on the M1 and heavy afternoon rain wasn’t enough to keep the crowd away as Wembley was packed to the rafters throughout the entire show.
Joel treated the crowd to plenty of hits throughout his performance including ‘Piano Man’ and ‘Always A Woman’. But of course, it was legendary hit ‘Uptown Girl’ which had the crowd on their feet singing along to their hearts content.
Joel took a detour whilst singing his hit ‘River’ to treat us to a few lyrics from The Beatles’ classic ‘Hard Days Night’. But he brought the curtain down on a legendary performance with a rendition of ‘You May Be Right’ to leave the crowd on their feet begging for him to do more. But that's just what world class musicians do.
