Walkers teams up with Wembley Stadium as
‘Official Snack Food Supplier’
9 March 2007
Walkers has joined the Wembley Stadium team as the Official Supplier of snack foods until July 2010. Wembley, the world famous sporting and entertainment venue, re-opens later this year, offering state-of-the-art event space, top quality entertainment and now the nation’s favourite crisps and snacks.
The relationship means that Walkers will supply all potato crisps and other bagged savoury snacks to visitors to the stadium. From Salt & Vinegar or Cheese & Onion crisps to Monster Munch or Wotsits, visitors will be able to get their hands on the tastiest snacks whilst enjoying the state of the art facility.
Jonathan Gregory, Marketing and Commercial Director for Wembley Stadium, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Walkers to our team of Official Suppliers, as we know that Walkers and sports fans have a long-standing history together. Everything we offer at Wembley will be part of a top quality experience – including all of its catering and concessions.”
Jon Goldstone, VP Marketing for Walkers, said:
"We’re thrilled to be the Official Supplier of snack foods to the new Wembley Stadium. Walkers has always had a relationship with sport and sports’ fans and we feel that the brands make a perfect match."
Gary Lineker said:
“The new Wembley Stadium marks the dawn of a new era for football – it was always a great honour to play at the old Wembley and I am really pleased that Walkers has teamed up with the most famous football stadium in the world. I am sure Wembley will be a great asset if this country bids for the World Cup in 2018 and I look forward to seeing some great games played there soon.”
The Wembley Stadium alliance follows a long relationship between Walkers and sport and football in particular: Walkers began its sponsorship of Leicester City Football Club in 2002 (now the Walkers Stadium).
