George Michael
9 & 10 June 2007
On Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 June, George Michael played the first ever concerts at the new Wembley Stadium, seven years since Bon Jovi played the last concert at the old stadium in August 2000.
Performing hits from both his solo career and his Wham! days, George said it was an ‘amazing honour’ to open the new stadium.

George Michael was delighted to be back at Wembley, having played the old stadium with Wham! At Live Aid in 1985 and also as a solo artist. He said before going on stage: "I have felt a huge association with Wembley from when I was a child.”
The stadium’s acoustics were well tested and the noise and atmosphere in the stadium was electric as fans welcomed George back to Wembley.
Rock band Muse are next to play at Wembley on 16 and 17 June, followed by Concert for Diana featuring Elton John and Duran Duran on 1 July. Live Earth with Madonna and the Red Hot Chili Peppers takes place on 7 July and Metallica play on 8 July.
