The Baggies dominated much of the game and came tantalisingly close to scoring but it was not their day. Derby midfielder Stephen Pearson
scored the only goal of the game during this tightly fought contest. Billy Davies, the Derby boss, paid tribute to his players, "The players deserve it - they showed great courage. Now all we can do is go and enjoy it and give it our best." It was a frustrating day for the Baggies who played the better football but all smiles for Derby who take away the spoils and look forward to life in the Premiership next season.

Robbie Williams and Keigan Parker scored the goals that promoted Blackpool to the Championship after a determined play-off final win over Yeovil. Simon Grayson the Blackpool Manager was very proud of his team, "They gave a fantastic performance today, in the first half especially they were outstanding."

football for the first time in 29 years. Rovers striker Richard Walker scored 2 of the goals to set up victory for the promotion to League One. Bristol Rovers Manager Paul Trollope praised his players, "It has been a great day at the end of a long season and the players have been magnificent."
