Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final
28 March 2010
Carlisle United v Southampton
Kick off: TBC
The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final takes place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 28 March. The Trophy is contested by the teams from Leagues 1 and 2.
After their victory over Leeds United in the Northern Section Area Final, Carlisle United made it through to Wembley where they'll meet Southampton. The Saints beat MK Dons over their two-legged Southern Section Area Final.
Last year’s final between Scunthorpe United and Luton Town was a thrilling encounter and is regarded as one of the most exciting finals at the new stadium. With Scunthorpe 2-1 up, a spectacular strike from Luton’s Gavin McCann sent the game into extra time. Claude Gnakpa then sealed the win for the Hatters. Scunthorpe then returned to Wembley later in the season to win the League 1 Play Off Final.
