Wembley Stadium has been shortlisted at the Football Business Awards 2013 in two categories:
‘Best Non-Match Day use of Venue’
and ‘Best Business Serving Football - over £2m turnover’
The ‘Best Non-Match Day use of Venue’
award acknowledges the successful utilisation of football venues in activities other than matches with judges looking for creative approaches and commercial success.
Wembley’s submission featured this year’s epic series of summer events: the International Stadium Poker Tour, Capital Summertime Ball, Bruce Springsteen, The Killers and Robbie Williams.
For the ‘Best Business Serving Football - over £2m turnover' award judges are looking for sustained excellence of service delivery and product innovation and strong customer feedback and Wembley’s entry focused on the 2013 Champions League Final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
Other FA Group finalists at the awards include St. Georges Park (‘Best Business Serving Football - over £2m turnover’
, ‘Football Brand of the Year’
and ‘Innovation Award’
) and Budweiser and The FA (‘Best Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme’
and ‘Sponsorship Deal / Partnership of the Year’
The Football Business Awards worked with 32 key figures from the industry to ensure the list of nominees represents the best the football industry has to offer in 2013.
Roger Maslin, Wembley’s Managing Director said, “We are delighted to be shortlisted for two Football Business Awards. The team at Wembley strives to exceed the expectations of our event owners and their fans and to deliver a stadium experience to make the nation proud.”
The finalists will now go forward for consideration by the main judging panel, who will decide the winners for each category. The results will be announced at the Football Business Awards ceremony at Chelsea FC on 7 November 2013.
