Green Day have announced their first outdoor shows since the release of ‘21st Century Breakdown’. The tour includes the band’s first ever Wembley Stadium show on Saturday 19 June 2010.
The band visited Wembley Stadium to announce the show. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said: "Playing Wembley Stadium is kind one of those moments in your career when you just go holy s***!
"It's going to be great because Wembley has a long tradition of rock concerts with the likes of U2, Foo Fighters and Muse playing here in the past and we're just happy to be part of that."
In addition to their Wembley Stadium date they will also play Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground on Wednesday 16 June 2010 and the Parc des Princes in Paris on Saturday 26 June.
‘21st Century Breakdown’ debuted at the top of the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic when it was released earlier this year. The album’s title track will be released as a single on 7 December.
Green Day’s recent sold-out tour wowed audiences with the band’s inimitable combination of frenzied punk energy, theatrical flourishes and euphoric crowd participation. Reiterating their status as one of the world’s most electrifying live bands, the shows featured a huge array of Green Day’s hits including ‘Basket Case’, ‘Longview’, ‘Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)’, ‘Minority’, ‘American Idiot’, ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’, ‘Know Your Enemy’ and ’21 Guns.’
These will be Green Day’s first stadium shows since their famous two-night stand at Milton Keynes National Bowl in 2005 that was later documented in their live album ‘Bullet In A Bible’.

What the media say …
“The fact that 20,000 people holler every word of American Idiot’s rejection of a “redneck agenda” is both exhilarating and encouraging… It’s all perfectly pitched and unexpectedly fantastic”
The Guardian, London O2
“The beauty about this gang of gracefully grown-up punks is how they have mastered the art of making the orchestrated seem improvised and how they make every voice in the room feel like it’s the most important”
Kerrang!, Belfast Odyssey Arena
“Green Day’s greatest accomplishment is the manner in which they’ve constructed a supremely cohesive whole out of such seemingly disparate parts. The characters, themes and motifs that recur throughout 21st Century Breakdown are marshalled into an engrossing narrative that recalls both Bruce Springsteen and novelist Chuck Palahniuk”
