Bobby Charlton
BOBBY CHARLTON, now Sir Bobby, was a footballing artist who was respected throughout the world. The most admired English player since Stanley Matthews played in more than 600 matches for Manchester United and his 49 goals in 106 internationals is still the English record.
At Wembley he won the FA Cup (1963) and European Cup (1968) with United and the World Cup (1966) with England. A Munich survivor, he appeared in two other FA Cup Finals as a ’Busby Babe’ in the 1950s. He remains English football’s greatest ambassador.
