Ricardo Villa
RICARDO VILLA, the Argentine international, signed for Tottenham Hotspur after the 1978 World Cup – along with compatriot Ossie Ardiles – and appeared in more than 130 First Division matches in the next five years.
But the bearded midfielder will be particularly remembered for his part in the 1981 FA Cup Final at Wembley. In the first match with Manchester City he was substituted, cutting a disconsolate figure as he left the arena. Five days later in the Wembley replay he emerged as Spurs’ two-goal hero as they lifted the Cup. His winner was a dribbling masterpiece.
