Hungarian and English legends unite in praise of Wembley
Gyula Grosics, the great Hungarian goalkeeper, and George Robb, the former England international winger, were reunited at Wembley recently to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Hungary’s 6-3 victory on November 25, 1953.
It was England’s first home defeat to any team from outside the British Isles and a pivotal moment in the history of English football.
The reunion was an opportunity for them to admire the incredible progress of the new stadium.
Grosics said: "I still have a picture of the old stadium in Hungary. I cannot imagine how the new one will have the same aura and the same playing surface, but I am sure that it will. I am looking forward to seeing it."
Robb added:"You have to look forward in life, as well as in football. The old stadium had many memories. But the new one looks fantastic."
