Once the game started there was no shortage of drama or controversy on the pitch. Saracens held on for victory however in a display of great character and determination which carried them to victory, despit a late try from Northampton prop Soane Tonga'uiha which was ruled out by the TV Match Official.
It was a great occassion for the club away from Vicarage Road. Saracen's centre Brad Barritt said: "I used to watch football matches at the stadium when I was a child so to be able to play out on the pitch was a fantastic experience and one that I will never forget."
Scrum half Neil de Kick added: "It's not only a great result but it was also a fantastic occassion... A crowd of nearly 45,000 speaks for itself. I can't wait to come back!"
