NFL International Series
New Orleans Saints 37 - 32 San Diego Chargers
Attendance: 83,226

New Orleans held off a late throw of the dice from San Diego to take their record to 4-4 this season with a high scoring victory at the second 'International Series' match at Wembley Stadium.

Drew Brees threw three touchdown passes against his former team as the Saints more than compensated for the loss of Reggie Bush with a strong passing game in front of 83,226 fans.

Although the Saints now return to the US with the superior record, the Chargers made it a frantic finale on Sunday evening as they came from 37-20 down to take a last second shot at an unlikely victory.

While Brees took the spoils of victory, his opposite quaterback Philip Rivers came away with a cedit for a strong performance and three touchdown passes of his own - while another was ruled out for holding in the third quarter.

The Chargers were unfortunate in the end, as the Saints took a safety with eight seconds remaining to ensure victory, but will no doubt rue the 14 penalties for 134 yards that marred their performance.

Despite overcoming his old team, Brees insisted that his performance was focused on winning the game as opposed to proving anything to his former employers.

"This game was not about me proving a point or proving anybody wrong or saying they shouldn't have let me go," Brees said. "We beat a very good team today that needed a victoy as badly as we did."
